The six-pointed star is widely known as the symbol of the Jewish people; called the Star of David, it adorns the flag of the reborn State of Israel. In geometry the star is referred to as hexagram, a figure formed by two intersecting equilateral triangles. However, its meaning goes far beyond that of any other geometrical or mathematical sign.
