PENTATEUCH, PROPHETS and HAGIOGRAPHA -CODEX LENINGRAD B 19a
The Leningrad Ms. Is considered the earliest extant manuscript containing the complete text of the Bible. According to the colophon the manuscript was copied by the scribe Ya'akov ben shmuel in the old city of Cairo in 1008, and was based on a text prepared by the noted Masorite Aaron ben Moses ben Asher. Thus, the Leningrad ms. has preserved one of the most important versions of the Bible, and in fact coincides with a number of Ben Asher traditions as trans-mitted in various sources (e.g. "Sefer Ha-Hilufim"). Scholars are hereby presented with the first facsimile of this ancient manuscript, containing the Ben Asher text with the Large and Small Massorah. The facsimile was published in a limited edition of 135 copies' according to special permission of the Leningrad Public Library. Introduction by Prof. D.S. Lowinger, head of the Hebrew Manuscripts Institute of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem . Published by R.Ben Publishing , Canada . ("kedem")
